CM1230
PicoGuard™ Ultra Low Capacitance ESD Protection Arrays
Designed for High Speed Serial Interfaces in Mobile, Digital Consumer and Computing Applications

Product Overview

California Micro Devices introduces the new CM1230, available in 2 or 4 channel configurations, ultra low capacitance ESD protection array designed specifically for high speed serial interfaces in mobile, consumer electronics and computing applications. These devices feature ±8kV contact discharge protection per the IEC61000-4-2 Level 4 specification. The CM1230, part of CMD's PicoGuard™ family of ultra low capacitance ESD protection devices, features a loading capacitance of 0.8pF typical making it ideal for protecting high speed serial interfaces or RF signals in wireless handsets, USB 2.0 and serial ATA.

The CM1230-02 is available in a 4 bump Chip Scale Package (CSP) with optional OptiGuard™ coating to improve reliability during assembly. It is also available with leaded (Pb) and RoHS compliant lead free (Pb free) finishing.

Product Features

The CM1230 features 2 integrated channels of ESD protection and provides ±8kV contact protection on each channel per the IEC61000-4-2 Level 4 specification. Each channel is made up of 2 diodes in series which steers the ESD current pulse to either the positive (VP) or negative (VN) supply rail. The CM1230 also features a Zener diode connected across the VP/VN pins which protects the VCC rail against ESD strikes and eliminates the need for a bypass capacitor that would otherwise be needed for absorbing positive ESD strikes to ground.
The CM1230 features very low channel input capacitance, very tight matching and low capacitive coupling between signal pairs to maintain data integrity. With a channel input capacitance of 0.8pF typical, these devices are suitable for a number of high speed serial buses utilized in today's mobile, digital consumer and computing products.
