Product Overview
California Micro Devices introduces the new CM1430/31, a new family of pi-style filter arrays featuring four, six or eight channels of EMI filtering with integrated ESD protection. These devices are available in 8, 12 and 16 lead, 0.4mm pitch TDFN packages for a 42% space reduction as compared to their 0.5mm lead pitch counterparts. These devices are ideal for portable electronics, especially wireless handsets, PDAs and notebook computers due to their small package size. Typical applications for these devices include EMI filtering & ESD protection for data and control lines on I/O ports, LCD displays and camera interfaces in mobile handsets.

Product Features

The CM1430/31 features four, six and eight integrated channels of EMI filtering. A C-R-C filter comprises each channel, with the CM1430 having values of 8.5pF-100Ω-8.5pF and the CM1431 having values of 15pF-100Ω-15pF. The CM1430 offers greater than -25dB attenuation typical at 1GHz while the CM1431 features better than -35dB attenuation typical at 1GHz. All devices maintain attenuation to greater than -35dB at 3 GHz.The CM1430 exhibits a cutoff frequency of 200MHz and can be used in applications where the data rate is as high as 80Mbps.

The CM1430/31 features integrated ESD protection with up to ±15kV contact protection on each channel, well beyond the IEC61000-4-2 Level 427% specification of ±8kV. These devices are also rated for contact discharges of greater than ±30kV per the MIL-STD-883 (Method 3015) specification for Human Body Model (HBM) ESD.

The CM1430/31 is available in CMD's 0.4mm pitch TDFN package, a space-saving, low-profile package ideal for space critical applications. These packages provide up to 42% space savings when compared to 0.5mm pitch TDFN devices and offer improved reliability during manufacturing.

CM1430/31 features include:

  • ±15kV ESD protection on each channel (IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4, contact discharge)
  • ±30kV ESD protection on each channel (HBM)
  • Greater than -25dB attenuation (typical) at 1 GHz
  • TDFN package with 0.40mm lead pitch:
    • 4-ch. = 8-lead TDFN
    • 6-ch. = 12-lead TDFN
    • 8-ch. = 16-lead TDFN
  • Tiny TDFN package size:
    • 8-lead: 1.7mm x 1.35mm
    • 12-lead: 2.5mm x 1.35mm
    • 16-lead: 3.3mm x 1.35mm
  • Increased robustness against vertical impacts during manufacturing process
  • Lead-free finishing

Sampling, Pricing and Availability

The CM1430 and CM1431 are sampling, and pricing ranges between $0.42 and $0.59 each in 1,000 units depending on channel configuration. Production for both families is scheduled for Q3 2005.
