Introducing the

CM3212 Dual-Output Low Noise DDR Power Regulator
Fully Integrated, Single Chip DDR Power Regulator Solution

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
California Micro Devices introduces the CM3212, a single chip regulator solution for DDR RAM applications. This device integrates the necessary power supply functions to meet SSTL-2 and SSTL-3 specifications for DDR-SDRAM VDDQ and VTT supplies. This device provides up to 2A continuous current for each of the VDDQ and VTT supplies. Using advanced MOSFETs, the CM3212 features excellent load regulation, low dropout voltage and low-noise operation. The CM3212 is available in a compact 8-Lead TDFN or SOIC package.

KEY FEATURE SUMMARY

“Our expanding family of fully integrated DDR linear power regulator solutions are optimized and designed to meet the specific power, cost and board space requirements for digital consumer and PC peripheral applications. The CM3212 is a complete power solution offering all the power needs for DDR memory operations”.
- Joe Salvador, director of marketing for computing and digital consumer products at California Micro Devices
The CM3212 provides a fully integrated and complete power solution for a DDR memory system in digital consumer electronics and PC peripheral applications. It features two independent linear regulators for VDDQ and VTT, along with an integrated VREF supply. With integrated power MOSFETs, the CM3212 can source up to 2A of VDDQ current, and source or sink up to 2A of VTT current. The typical dropout voltage for VDDQ is 500mV at 2A load current.

The CM3212 also features an enable VTT pin for sleep or “Suspend to RAM” mode. The “Suspend to RAM” mode allows for the DDR memory to be powered while suspending VTT, reducing overall system power when the system is in standby.

The CM3212 provides fast response to transient load changes. It integrates overcurrent protection with short circuit and thermal shutdown for VDDQ and VTT. The device is available in ROHS compliant lead-free packages
