Industry
Leading EMI Filter Performance
Praetorian® ASIP™ devices offer
industry leading EMI filter performance characteristics, including:
- higher cutoff frequencies
- faster roll-off
- superior attenuation
at required handset carrier frequencies
- highly effective ESD
protection
Current EMI solutions
are acceptable for the lower data rates typically used by first
generation color displays and camera imagers. Unfortunately, these
solutions do not adequately address the higher data rate requirements
of the latest model handsets that incorporate higher resolution
color LCD displays and camera imagers. These applications require
EMI filters that effectively attenuate signals in the carrier frequency
range of 800MHz to 2.7GHz for data rates as high as 120Mbps. An
ideal EMI filter will attenuate signals across this band while providing
a high cutoff frequency and an attenuation curve with a very steep
roll-off. California Micro Devices’ Praetorian®
process with integrated inductors will satisfy this requirement
while providing a high level of ESD protection, all in a single
device.

Process Technology
A Lower
Cost, Higher Performance Solution
Praetorian®'s integrated inductor process
clearly provides a lower-cost, higher performance alternative to
solutions comprised of discrete components or ceramic multi-channel
inductor/capacitor (LC) arrays. This technology enables the manufacture
of a single-package, higher performance filter solution with the
added bonus of low-capacitance, high-voltage ESD protection that
saves on board real estate and overall component and manufacturing
costs. By providing superior EMI filter performance and a high-level
of ESD protection in a single device, California Micro Devices'
Praetorian® ASIP™ solutions offer
the best of both worlds, establishing a clear value proposition
for our customers.
Product
Applications
Applications for these new devices includes
high-speed data ports, control lines, I/O ports and LCD interfaces
typically found on today's wireless flip or clamshell handsets,
handheld PCs and PDAs.
Availability
Praetorian® process-based
products will be available starting the fourth quarter of this year.
